How does it work?
Electric heating films operate on the principle of infrared radiation, which makes heating more efficient. Floor heating with infrared films represents a maintenance-free system: there are no mechanical components that wear out, hence no parts requiring repair.
Composition of TRIVOLT electric heating films
The core of the TRIVOLT heating film is made of a PET film and a carbon heating layer manufactured from high-quality carbon with specific properties. The PET covering layers are highly resistant to mechanical damage; in addition they have good electrical-insulation properties and are fire-resistant, which makes the entire system very safe. The heating film is powered via a copper busbar. Electric under-floor heating from TRIVOLT is controlled by a thermostat.

Parameters of electric underfloor heating films
Infrared radiation emitted by the heating film does not heat the air directly (as standard under-floor heating systems do), but rather the objects in the room on which it impinges; this ensures an even heat distribution in the room and simultaneously prevents the formation of mould by eliminating cold spots. The most important parameter of a heating film is its power per square metre. This must be chosen such that the space to be heated is sufficiently warmed, while avoiding an unnecessarily large circuit breaker. Heating-film power
Electric heating films are produced in two power variants:
80 W/m² (models: TRO 100L, TRO 50L, TRE 100L, TRE 50L)
140 W/m² (models: TRO 100H, TRO 50H, TRE 100H, TRE 50H)
For typical floating floors and well-insulated new buildings, a power of 80 W/m² is sufficient. The heating film should not heat the surface of the floating floor above 27-28 °C. This maximum parameter is usually specified by the floor manufacturer.
The heating film with 140 W/m² output is usually used beneath a screed layer or under floor boards (e.g., Fermacell), so that it is not in direct contact with the floor finish. This output is recommended for older or less well-insulated spaces. Again, the condition of not exceeding 27-28 °C surface temperature applies, which is ensured via a thermostat with a floor sensor.
Types of heating films
TRIVOLT heating films are manufactured in two variants: TRIVOLT ONE and TRIVOLT EVO.
TRIVOLT ONE is a carbon heating film with a reinforced construction and a thickness of 0.38 mm. The top protective layer has a significant influence on the durability and lifespan of the system; therefore this film is designed to withstand even rougher handling. The installation height is only approx. 7 mm plus the floating floor. When installed by an authorised partner, we provide up to 15-year warranty. Application: beneath floating floor or under Fermacell boards.

TRIVOLT EVO is a premium-quality carbon heating film with reinforced construction and a thickness of 0.45 mm. The top protective layer, made from extra-reinforced laminate, ensures perfect protection of the entire system even when installed into a screed. Warranty for the heating system when installed by an authorised partner is 25 years. Application: beneath screed, vinyl, wood, SPC floor or beneath Fermacell boards.
